Ah the Mojito. Such a nice drink to enjoy on a hot day. Drinking this sure makes it hard to remember you're not at some tropical beach with sand all around you. Oh well, back to reality now. This week I am launching my site and what a better way than a beach drink? Well enough of my rambling, here's how you make it!
What you'll need:
- 2 oz. White Rum
- 1/2 Lime
- 3/4 oz. Simple Syrup
- 1 oz. Lime Juice
- 3 oz. soda water
- Mint Leaves
Now, with the mint, make sure you muddle (that's bar talk for crushing) it. The more thorough you are with the crushing, the more of the flavour you'll bring out. Do it as much as you can, you will thank me later. To muddle you can either use a muddler if you have one or use a fork to crush it. I have seen people put the leaves in their hands and "clap" to muddle it. This is useful in a pinch but I would recommend using the other methods if possible.
- Put the leaves and the syrup in the glass first, then muddle the leaves.
- Add ice to the glass.
- Pour the rest of the ingredients into the shaker.
- Shake then pour it into the glass.
- Serve and enjoy!
